Meralco Announces Power Outages in Luzon For This Week

The Philippines’ capital city is still grappling with an apparent water shortage. And now, it looks like its citizens will also have to deal with power interruptions too.

Last Sunday, the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) announced their schedule of power interruptions throughout Luzon from 18-24 March. The utility company’s maintenance procedures will primarily affect select areas in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal.

Inconvenient as this is, there is one silver lining to it all. Unlike the water shortage, which will appear to continue till the end of the summer, this week’s power outages are relatively brief and temporary.

Furthermore, much of it is due to line reconductoring work, facility transfers, and preventive maintenance, so we can look forward to better and safer access as customers.

In the meantime, let’s remain vigilant and hope that this will all somehow reduce our electricity bills for this month.
