Australia has been the place to go for most Filipinos to find greener pastures.
This move was to put Australians first. If foreigners abroad can find jobs in Australia, why can’t our own citizens find one in their own country?
The abolishment led to a new skill classification system where jobs are divided between Short-Term Stream and Medium-Term Stream. The difference is that skills listed in the Medium-Term Stream can allow the employee to apply for a permanent visa after three years of working.
Every 6 months, the occupation list is reviewed. Here is the current list of eligible occupations in Australia.
These are the additional skills available for our Filipino hopefuls.
Addition to Short-Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL)
These jobs are not previously included in the list. Those wanting to work in Australia with this skill-set can now try their luck.
Occupations Moved Between Lists
The skills above are transferred from Short-Term Skilled Occupation (STSOL) to Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skill List (MTLSSL). No skills were moved from MTLSSL to STSOL.
Occupation Removed from Lists
Do you have anyone in mind that can benefit from this change? With the constant adjustment to the lists, make sure to go for it. You’ll never know until you try.
Rest assured, we will keep you posted on any changes! Cheers!
