A study done at Oxford University found out that 45% of all current jobs will disappear in the next 10 to 20 years with some of them being completely automated or at least upgraded because of technology.
When we talk about the future, the first thing that will pop in our heads is robots. Robots that will make our work easier and more convenient. But what we are missing is that these robots can actually replace us and take our jobs away from us. Sounds creepy, right?
And to give you guys a fair warning, here are the top 5 jobs that may disappear after 10 to 20 years:
As of now, we are all aware that the new generations are not into farming.
After 20 years, people can now measure things with drones or satellite imagery. There is also a possibility that the soil is already treated against weeds or the seeds can be weed resistant.
Harvesting and planting can be done in a small fraction of the time it used. Expect that there will be specialized hardware and self-driving trucks soon.
When’s the last time you went to a travel agency to book a flight?
Today, now have applications on our mobile phones that can help us find cheap flights, hotels, and almost everything we need in traveling.
Skyscanner took over the flight tickets industry, Booking.com over the hotel booking industry and Airbnb is disrupting the hotel business as a whole. No need for travel agents or anyone to do it since it’s all one click away.
In the future, expect that everything is online. We can check our balance on our smartphones, people on our payroll can get their money delivered to their accounts automatically and we can use our ATM to grab some cash.
Opening an account won’t be a problem if it is required to see your face, then banks can now use video calls.
Fast-food jobs are probably the easiest to automate out. Since people are protesting because of the low wages, replacing fast-food workers into robots is the best solution.
It can actually happen now but let’s reserve it for the future.
Human actors are out, animated actors are in!
Given the fact that animated characters do not age, there is also a possibility that you can monetize them. Why hire a human who can only work for some hours if you can make one and control it 24 hours and 7 days a week?
Change is inevitable and ideas are endless. Every day, new inventions are made and new ideas are created. We all know that we can’t escape the future but what we can do is prepare for it and create a better world for the next generations.
