The Sleep Council say ‘39% of people who are in the habit of reading before they go to sleep, sleep very well’. It makes perfect sense that an activity that reduces stress is beneficial before bed.

Reading is also a better alternative to watching TV or scrolling through your phone. These emit blue light which tricks your brain into thinking it’s daytime. This is why 49% of Brits prefer to read a book than watch TV before bed and couldn’t go to sleep without a chapter of their current book.

According to a 2014 study, water deprivation can negatively impact your mood, which could affect your overall sleep-wake cycle.

The study examined a total of 52 high (22) and low (30) fluid volume intake subjects. People who normally drank a lot of water weren’t as calm and didn’t feel as many positive emotions when they couldn’t drink as much as they normally did.

Those with a low fluid intake showed an increase in positive emotion, satisfaction, and calmness when they increased their water intake.

Having a productive day usually starts the night before we go to work. So always make sure to end your day right for you to have a fresh start.
