6 Survival Tips to Conquer the Christmas Shopping Rush

We are merely twenty days away from Christmas. It is that time of the year where the calendar seems to fly by so fast. There are deadlines that you need to meet and gifts that you need to purchase.

If you have not completed your shopping tasks for your friends and family, you came to the right place. Here are 6 survival tips to help you handle the holiday shopping rush:

1. Accept the Gravity of the Situation

Mental preparation is a vital first step to survive the holiday rush. Acknowledge that you are dealing with one of the most stressful seasons of the year. Anticipate the loads of people and the long queues at the shopping malls. Do not try to convince yourself that you are happy with the situation when you are not. Instead, change your mindset by accepting the reality.

2. Make a List and Check It Twice

Much like the iconic Christmas symbol, you must make a list and check it twice. This list must contain the people whom you desire to buy gifts for. Go through each one and designate a specific amount beside the names.

You must not exceed this amount when shopping. The revision is necessary as you may reduce the allocated amounts to fulfill your tight budget.

We all know that Filipinos have huge immediate and extended families. This is why you may consider to give a single present per married couple.

3. Shop During Off-peak Hours

It does not take a genius to realize that shopping during the peak hours is a bad idea! Prevent the recurring nightmares of the lengthy frenzy in the mall by avoiding weekends and weeknights. Come out victorious by visiting your favorite shops during weekdays and early mornings.

4. Arrive Earlier Than Expected

Speaking of early mornings, the early bird still catches the worm! People will inevitably flood the major shopping centers to do their last-minute shopping. Your stress levels may elevate quickly as you will not be able to park right away. More so, you time will not be maximized. This is why it is best arrive at the door before 10 am (i.e., before Philippine malls open).

There will be less people in the morning and less lines in the cashier. Remember to wear comfortable kicks if you are planning to shop all day!

5. Consider Shopping Online

If you are not ready to brave the traffic and the tough queues, you may consider purchasing your gifts online. Online shopping is a cost and time efficient way to complete your list. Modern technology paved way for contemporary methods to sell products and services. Furthermore, your items will be delivered to you at your own doorstep.

For the Yuletide season, I recommend visiting three good virtual shops namely LAZADA, Istorya Creations, and AVA.

When all your plans fail, you can get creative. Doing your presents by yourself has its benefits.
