Being a parent is hard work especially if you’re a first timer. Everything is new and sometimes, you have no idea what you’re doing.

But of course, you still keep yourself on track and make sure that you take good care of your child. And if you’re looking for some parenting tips, you’re in the right place.

As a guide to parenthood, we have listed 6 of the most important things that your child should learn by the age of 10. What are they?

Respect is a quality that you should teach to your child. They should learn how to respect other children, regardless of their gender.

Teach your child that we are all equal no matter what race, age, religion, or status in life. Everybody deserves to be respected.

PARENTS ARE NOT YOUR ENEMIES. YOU CAN ASK THEM FOR HELP.

This is the common mistakes that some parents do. Of course, you wanted your child to be disciplined but you should also make sure that they won’t see you as an enemy.

For you to be able to gain their trust, you should make sure that they don’t fear you as a parent instead they should learn that they can count on you whenever they need help.

BE READY TO STAND UP FOR YOURSELF

Teaching your kids to stand up for themselves is quite difficult. It needs a lot of explanation about when and why they should.

Take note that this can also lead to misunderstanding between you and your child. Tell him that respect is important, but it is also necessary to express his point of view and defend himself correctly.

RESPECT THE ENVIRONMENT

Teaching kids to throw their trash in the proper trash bin can have a huge impact as they grow. Teach them about recycling or even volunteer together to a cleaning project.

Once your child understands the importance of the environment, they can now influence others to do the same.

IF YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND, ASK QUESTIONS.

Asking questions is natural. But for some parents, they get a little bit annoyed whenever their child asks some random questions. If you’re guilty of doing this, I encourage you to keep your patience long and answer their questions.

Teach your child to be vocal and ask if they cannot understand something properly.

LEARN TO SAY NO

Teach your child to say “no”. Whether to adults, their teachers, their friends or even yourself. Remember, you are raising a person, not a subject who must always obey.

The ability to say “no” is something your child will need in adult life. But you should also teach them how to properly say it in a mannerly way.

They always say that being a parent is the best job in the world. Yes, it’s complicated at times but it’s also fun. And the most interesting thing about parenthood is that you’re not the only one who’s teaching because your child also teaches you life lessons that can help as a person.
